BSNL plans to set up 1 lakh Wi-Fi Hotspots Nationwide by 2019

India’s State-Owned Telecom Company BSNL will set up 1 lakh wi-fi Hot spots on a pan india level by March 2019, Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Shrivastava said today.

“We have plans to set up 1 lakh wi-fi Hot Spots by March 2019, which comprises 25,000 rural areas. The USOF (Universal Service Obligation Fund) will give monetary help to country wi-fi hotspots,” Shrivastava told journalists on the sidelines of propelling a GST application for BSNL clients.


The BSNL CMD said the organization will put resources into regards to Rs 1,800 crore in setting up 70,000 wi-fi hotspots and the USOF is giving a store of Rs 900 crore, including three years of operation and support for setting up 25,000 hotspots.

“We will set up another 5,000 wi-fi hotspots on revenue sharing model and BSNL is not required to contribute capital… we are just giving data transmission,” Shrivastava said.

With respect to the GST application, he said BSNL has chosen Masters India that will give programming to clients of the state-run firm.

“When another contestant has changed the elements of working together in the telecom area, taxes will absolute bottom, we have to investigate different models for creating income. The GST documenting administration that we are giving in organization Masters India will be on revenue sharing basis and it will draw in clients to our system,” Shrivastava said.

BSNL GM Finance Y N Singh said any dealer on BSNL system can utilize Masters Indias programming for nothing to generate up to 2,000 solicitations per year.

“It is a prepaid administration. Past 2,000 solicitations, charges will apply according to chunk rate settled by the organization,” Singh said.

Masters India CEO Nishank Goyal said a business enterprise generating 2,000-6,000
invoices will have to pay Rs 1,999 per annum basis and the firm will have to pay Re 1 per invoice beyond 6,000 invoices generated in a year.
