Airtel has launched a digital entertainment platform named Xstream, just three days before rival Reliance Jio’s much-hyped home broadband service goes live. Xstream’s subscribers will be able to access live TV, video, music, news and sports, using an over-the-top smart stick, an internet-enabled set-top box and handheld devices. Analysts feel the telecom market is rapidly moving towards quad-play: a mix of mobile, digital TV, fast broadband and landline services.
Looks like both the players have upped the ante in digital entertainment space with Airtel launching its own product. That will be necessary,their is need of competition for better services for consumers and hard need of new entrants in telecommunications.
It can also be used as a gamepad and supports 4K. It comes with a smart voice support remote.

It comes up with Android 8.0, and has only single subscription plan that provides wide range of access to movies and shows from top OTT content partners like ZEE5, Hooq, Hoi Choi, Eros Now, HungamaPlay, ShemarooMe, Ultra and Curiosity Stream, in addition to Wynk Music. It also lets you enjoy Netflix, Amazon Prime Video apart from other Google Playstore applications. Powered by 1.6Ghz processor, it has built-in Chromecast, comes bundled with Bluetooth 4.2 voice enabled remote.
As per press conference and media reports, this XStream platform will integrate various OTT platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hungama, Eros and Wynk.
